Each year, Columbia celebrates its global community in September and October by bringing alumni together to share their Columbia connection and experiences and welcome new graduates to alumni communities across the globe.

This year, in Rio, we are joining with the Columbia Alumni Club of São Paulo and the Columbia Alumni Club of Porto Alegre in inviting you to spend an afternoon hiking on the spectacular Morro Dois Irmãos trail and then meeting up with more Columbians and friends at the Bar da Laje.

Saturday, October 8th

2:30pm Sharp: Hikers meet our guide and future fellow alumnus, Felipe Paiva, at an appointed meeting place at the entrance of Vidigal.  Cost per person is R$90, and includes the guided hike, photos, water and healthy snacks.  A van will take our group to the top of the trail, and we will hike back down to Bar da Laje. Please note: space is limited - reserve your spot soon!

4:30pm - 6:30pm:  Columbia Happy Hour at Bar da Laje (which has a van service that picks up all along the orla from Leme to Leblon - call to reserve).

Our guide, Felipe Paiva, a talented photographer, and lifelong resident of Vidigal, has been conducting tours since 2007.  Felipe also works with several nonprofit organizations engaged in public policy in Rocinha and Vidigal. Felipe's photographic work has been published in major newspapers and exhibited throughout Rio de Janeiro, as well as in the Law Department of the Fundação Gertúlio Vargas, where he studied. In 2017, Felipe will join the Columbia School of the Arts to earn his MFA in photography.
